The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced some security measures it will soon undertake to ensure an incident-free Akwasidae Kese festival celebration.<\/p>\n
The Akwasidae Kesse is a festival celebrated by the Ashanti people and this year\u2019s festival will climax the 15th\u00a0anniversary celebration of the coronation of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.<\/p>\n
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye in a press briefing at Kumasi on Thursday, stated that the police in the region are poised to instil stringent measures to ensure the safety of residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur objective is to ensure peace and order, so people can enjoy the festival in its entirety; because of this, we have made a lot of security arrangements,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
DCOP Boakye announced that some major roads in the metropolis will be closed to traffic during the festival saying, \u201cit must be emphasized that because of the number of people who will throng the stadium, it is imperative that some roads are blocked.\u201d<\/p>\n
15th\u00a0anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu<\/strong><\/p>\n The 15th\u00a0anniversary of the reign of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II began last month to mark over a decade since the king was enstooled on the Golden stool.<\/p>\n The Manhyia Palace announced a 20-day festival to mark the celebrations. Numerous events in the region have taken place to honor the Asantehene.<\/p>\n He recently celebrated his 64th birthday on Tuesday, 6th\u00a0May 2014.<\/p>\n
