Residents of\u00a0Bimbilla in the Northern Region are said to be closing their shops and running away from the markets towards\u00a0their homes following fears of possible clashes\u00a0between two powerful families.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Ws048De5o72503B20ObPjtRRQQ7rjmS0″]The situation, according to a local journalist, Mohammed Ameen, was triggered by the construction of a shed by one of the royal gates, the Nakpa-Naa in front their house, much to the displeasure of the Andani gate.<\/p>\n
This has caused panic among residents who fear the move\u00a0may trigger violence between the two main royal gates.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we speak, people have run back home and the town is deserted. The tension has been there since morning. The Nakpa-Naa side are trying to put up a building at their house but the Andani side says no. I went out and saw people running and I had to too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that there is heavy security in the town to prevent any attacks.<\/p>\n
The Bimbilla township has been under curfew for some time now following the recurrent\u00a0violence recorded over the\u00a0years.<\/p>\n
The conflict is caused by a protracted chieftaincy dispute.<\/p>\n
