Newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George, has been suspended by the party for misconduct.

Mr. George, in one of the fiercest political contest during the NDC’s primaries held on November 22 in his constituency, beat stiff competition from the incumbent MP, Enoch Teye-Mensah.

The two accused each other of scheming to rig the polls. The verbal exchanges turned physical with Mr. George allegedly receiving a punch in the eye from an aide to Mr. E.T. Mensah.

In a related development, the party’s Parliamentary Candidate, who is also the incumbent MP for the La Dadekotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Amasah-Namoale, has also been suspended for a similar offence.

Their suspension takes effect from December 1, 2015. According to the letter suspending them, the two would be made to face the party’s Disciplinary Committee at a later date, to clear themselves of any wrongdoing.

The party says their actions have brought the name of the party into disrepute.

In the case of Mr. Namoale, he is also alleged to have accused the Greater regional executives of working against his re-election.
