best player for 2014-15 at the gala LFP Awards ceremony in Barcelona on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It was the sixth time in the awards\u2019 seven-year history that Messi has claimed the top prize, with last year\u2019s winner Cristiano Ronaldo the only other recipient last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The Argentina maestro claimed the award along with being chosen as forward of the year on a night which saw his treble-winning Barca side rewarded for their dominance of the league and Europe.<\/p>\n<div class=\"artSplitter mol-img-group\">\n<div year, and Neymar was chosen as the best player from the Americas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Messi paid tribute to his son Thiago after a year in which he delivered 43 goals and 18 assists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018I dedicate this award to my son Thiago,\u2019 he said. \u2018When I leave home, he always gets mad and says, \u2018You\u2019re again going to the goal\u2019.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Spanish MotoGP superstar Marc Marquez was as delighted to present the award as Messi was to receive it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018A pleasure give a prize to the best soccer player in the history #nowords,\u2019 said Marquez on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Valencia\u2019s Sofiane Feghouli was the only player from Spain\u2019s two giants to be honoured after he was given the Best African Player prize.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Bravo was delighted with his recognition for his debut Barca season in which he conceded just 19 goals as his side proved the competition\u2019s most frugal defence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018Happy to receive 4-0 by their fierce rivals, Ballon d\u2019Or finalist Neymar suggested the tally should have been more lop-sided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018Bar\u00e7a five awards, Madrid three? Don\u2019t know if it\u2019s fair, but all nominees worked hard,\u2019 he said after being dubbed America\u2019s best player despite Messi, Bravo and Rodriquez all hailing from South America. \u2018Barca could have won more but I\u2019m happy with my award.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Real\u2019s awards came to Sergio Ramos, winning the defender prize for the fourth year in a row, and James Rodriguez chosen as the best defender.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u2018Four years in a row.
