{"id":170128,"date":"2015-11-27T13:47:46","date_gmt":"2015-11-27T13:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=170128"},"modified":"2015-11-27T13:47:46","modified_gmt":"2015-11-27T13:47:46","slug":"price-of-rice-declines-in-ghana-ahead-of-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/11\/price-of-rice-declines-in-ghana-ahead-of-christmas\/","title":{"rendered":"Price of rice declines in Ghana ahead of Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The price of rice has declined in Ghana few weeks to Christmas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It dropped by 9 percent, in the last week of November, at an average price of GHc 25.00 for \u201cone small bag of 5kg [imported-Unclesam].\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was followed by Maize which made a 5 percent drop to close the week at GHc 4.00 per olunka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yam (Pona) also followed with 4 percent drop to close the week at GHc 3.60 and Soya bean dropped by 2 percent to close the week at GHc 6.40 per olunka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cassava (Gari) and Groundnut dropped by a percentage point each to close at GHc 4.40 and 12 .90 per olunka respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esoko Ghana reported that tomato gained 4 percent to close the week at GHc 11.70 per \u201cmedium size tomato tin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cowpea followed with 2 percent gained to close the week at GHc 7.80 per olunka and Cassava (fresh tubers) also gained a percentage point to close the week at 3.60 per 3-4 tubers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The other commodity prices remained the same.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the various markets, the price for an \u201colunka\u201d of maize dropped by 20 percent in Dambai to close the week at GHc 4.00, by 16 percent in Bawku to close the week at GHcS 3.00 and by 2 percent in Kumasi to close the week at GHc 5.00; in the other markets the price remained the same.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Techiman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A \u201cmedium size tomato tin\u201d full of fresh tomatoes lost 11 percent in Techiman to close the week at GHc 11.50. The commodity however made some gains in Kumasi and Dambai.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kumasi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Kumasi, it gained 14 percent to close at GHc 9.10 and in Dambai by 76 percentage to close the week at GHc 7.90.
