The Ghana Armed Forces has dismissed reports that its officers participated in the ransacking of the Asylum Head office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n
Some persons believed to be wearing military uniforms and using military vehicles are reported to have besieged the offices of the opposition party, where they allegedly made away with some hard drives and other documents.<\/p>\n
The police have so far arrested eleven\u00a0persons connected with the incident.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”LEqLAlA6MkuxZQRcWmtu7DqaOtB03Br2″]But in an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Armed Forces Lieutenant, Colonel Aggrey-Quarshie said none of its men were involved in the incident at the party\u2019s Head office.<\/p>\n The party\u2019s acting National Chairman Freddie Blay, has said the party suspects some influential persons may have masterminded the incident.<\/p>\n He says the party will carry out its own investigations whiles the police also carries out its probe.<\/p>\n \u201cThey forced their way upstairs and broke all kinds of things in our offices. They damaged a lot of cupboards, TVs and others. But we have not had the opportunity to enter to find out more because the police have cordoned off the place and are investigating. We want to keep quiet about it for now until we are told exactly what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are convinced they are a junk of ruffians either sent by some individuals or by some powerful people who want to create an impression that we have problems in the party because they came at dawn. We are keeping quit for the police to come out with their investigation; we\u2019ve been made to believe that eleven of those who came have been arrested although those who were in uniform have not yet been identified. But we are doing our own investigation because some of the watchmen identified one or two of those who were in uniform\u201d Mr. Blay told the press on Monday.
