One of the judges implicated\u00a0in the recent corruption expos\u00e9, Justice \u00a0Ayisi Addo, has sued investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the New Crusading Guide Newspaper and seven others for defamation.<\/p>\n
The rest are Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) group, operators of Starr FM Accra, Media Foundation For West Africa, the Director of Estates and \u00a0General Services Bureau Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Manager of the Accra International Conference Centre, the Global Media Alliance and the Attorney General.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”YWBmxlOqxXI4aoN9sd9i6b2RHhhnFjZB”]Lawyer Ayisi argued in his writ that the petition to the Chief Justice by Anas \u201caccompanied by the audio visual recordings was meant to portray the Plaintiff as a corrupt and criminally minded judge and public officer, and a common criminal.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Plaintiff \u00a0further contends that “by the ordinary meaning, the said petition accompanied by the audio visual recordings was meant to portray the Plaintiff as a judge who perverts the cause of justice by demanding bribes from parties appearing before him to influence the judgments he delivers.\u201d<\/p>\n
He is seeking the following reliefs:<\/p>\n
iii. Exemplary damages for the reckless publication, republication and circulation of\u00a0the said audio visual recordings.<\/p>\n
vii. A declaration that the Plaintiff never demanded any money from the 1st\u00a0Defendant to influence his decision in any case pending before him.<\/p>\n
viii. A perpetual injunction restraining the Defendants from publishing any further\u00a0defamatory material about the Plaintiff.<\/p>\n
