The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the Military High Command to respond to allegations of complicity linking some of its men to the violent attack at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Monday.

Reports indicate that some six persons dressed in military uniform, were led by others in plain clothes to carry out the act.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zdiQ1TKx8nrev46FqyYTD6kidthrvqcZ”]Addressing the media on Monday, the Director of Communications for the party, Nana Akomea said the command must respond to the allegations to bring clarity to the matter.

“Obviously this is a set up very clearly from the Odorkor Police extract. This other group from Odorkor when they came, they were disappointed. They were told to taken in some alcohol and they they were given party T-shirts so they were happy. But when they were given machetes, some of them said they cannot be part of it so when they left, they lodged a complaint at the Odorkor Police station that this is what has happened. So there is an official report made by these people about they being organised and lured to the party office to engage in this activity. We will be extremely glad if the Military Command itself will come out to clarify the issue,” Nana Akomea said.

In a related development, the Police have arrested 11 suspects in connection with the incident.

However the identities of those arrested are unknown for now. The police say they are on high alert as investigations are underway.

The party’s acting National Chairman Freddie Blay, has told journalists the party suspects some influential persons may have masterminded the incident.

He said the party will conduct its own investigations while the police also carries out its probe.
