President John Dramani Mahama was on Sunday November 23 2015,\u00a0given the nod to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n He had a total of 1,199,118 NDC members affirming his candidature.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The figure represents the view of 95.10% of NDC members who participated in the \u2018yes\u2019 and \u2018no\u2019 vote over the weekend.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n According to the Electoral Commission\u2019s Director of Elections, Samuel Tettey, the results came from 265 constituencies instead of 275.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n President Mahama after the declaration thanked all party members for supporting his candidature describing the endorsement as overwhelming.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n He said the NDC\u2019s new process of choosing its parliamentary and presidential candidates is commendable and much better than the previous approach where the decision was limited to a few people. \u201cI wish to thank those who voted ‘Yes’\u00a0to endorse my candidature. I also thank those who voted ‘No’.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n “NDC is a party of peace, unity and democracy. I congratulate all party members who participated in this election.”<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n
