An aspiring Member of Parliament in the Ningo Prampram constituency, Sam George has alleged that his name and that of other 3,000 delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been deleted from the voters’ register.

He claims residents in the area are therefore calling for a suspension of polls as a result of the development.

[contextly_sidebar id=”7FiPaH8lxFMQ9Ls9zsOV07m88s9SIRXl”]“I am not calling for elections to be put on hold . The people of Ningo Prampram are calling for elections to be put on hold. They do not understand why names have been arbitrarily deleted especially from the Ningo Traditional area… Over 3,000 names have been deleted…Even me as a candidate my name has been taken out, I’m told”

“The party set up an entry removal mechanism. The entry removal form is not meant to just remove anybody but people who are known not to be members of the party… so on what basis was this entry removal form filled?”

He stated that “he had asked for the register for so long” to check some of these irregularities but the NDC’s Electoral Directorate failed to give it out.

“How do you go into an election when you saw a provisional register 10 days ago and then the final register is not even given to you an hour after election has started.”

He further stated that “the Electoral Commission only received the register at 1: 25 am this dawn.”

Sam George is challenging the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, E.T Mensah who is his main contender in the NDC primaries.
