The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will go ahead with parliamentary and presidential elections in the Ketu South constituency on Saturday, despite one of the candidates going to court to seek an injunction on the race.

Jim Yao Morti has gone to court to challenge his disqualification from the race.

[contextly_sidebar id=”S4cMipZyNgCR0XXjh911ReXS8pFerJQw”]According to Morti, he doesn’t know why he was disqualified.

But according to the NDC, elections will take place in all constituencies in the country except for Chiana Paga and Nkwanta South were the processes have been deferred.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said there is nothing barring them from holding the elections on November 21.

“I have already mentioned that in two constituencies, one in Volta Region; Nkwanta South and the other one in Chiana Paga are the constituencies where the Parliamentary and I guess the Presidential election will not be conducted. It has been deferred and it will be conducted later.”

“We are in a democracy and there is time between now and Saturday, so the party is ready to abide by any court decisions or court restraining orders for any aspect of the election…There are two cases that are known to us and are being handled in court. Yesterday we had information that one has been disposed-off paving the parliamentary election to take place. The other one is in court and we are still dealing with it with our lawyers.”

The party also indicated that measures have been put in place to ensure a successful election.

The NDC has among other things expanded its electoral college and migrated its members onto a biometric platform.
