The Minister of Roads and Highways, Alhaji Aminu Sulemani is advising Ghanaians to stop relying on politicians to see their children through school.<\/p>\n
According to him, politicians are very greedy people whose promises cannot be trusted saying, \u201cpoliticians are very greedy people so don\u2019t think that they will help your child to be like them, don\u2019t rely on them completely for the education of your children.\u201d<\/p>\n
President John Mahama in his 2014 state of the nation address revealed government\u2019s intentions of implementing a free senior high school education system in accordance with the 1992 Constitution.<\/p>\n
Government in a bid to make education more appealing and to encourage parents to educate their children has also rolled out a policy to distribute free school uniforms, books and the latest being shoes to students in deprived districts.<\/p>\n
But addressing\u00a0this year\u2019s first\u00a0session of the Sissala\u00a0West\u00a0District Assembly, Alhaji\u00a0 Aminu Sulemani\u00a0 said\u00a0it is high time Ghanaians stopped the over- reliance\u00a0on politicians and urged them to take responsibility for their children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cEnsure that you contribute your own so that we come in to help. I am a politician and we are very greedy people.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of us have left the fate of our children\u2019s education to politicians. The Politicians will attempt, they will pretend that they are supporting but it is not going to go far. They are our children, let\u2019s make it a point to strife whatever little resources we have to see what we can do and if others can give their support, they do. You can\u2019t just throw your child to go to DCE or any other politician,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He further advised parents to contribute their quota to ensuring that they give their children quality education.<\/p>\n
