Chiefs in the Northern Region have endorsed President Mahama\u2019s bid for the\u00a02016 general election.<\/p>\n

Affirming their support, the President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, Nayire Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai, prayed for the President to retain the \u00a0seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe passionately pray that almighty God and our ancestral skins will support and back you to achieve your desired aim of continuing to be the president of the Republic of Ghana come 2016,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nayire Naa Abdulai made the declaration over the weekend when President Mahama visited the area as part of his #ChangingLives tour ahead of the National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) primaries on November 21.<\/p>\n

The endorsement comes months after the Sunyani and Kukurantumi chiefs openly expressed support<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>for President John Mahama despite the constitution barring chiefs from engaging in active politics.<\/p>\n

Whereas the Kukurantumi chief, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, promised\u00a0President Mahama of over 50 percent votes in the\u00a0Eastern Region, that of Sunyani, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, promised 80 percent of votes from the Brong Ahafo Region.<\/p>\n

The President of the Northern Regional House of Chiefs, Nayire Naa Abdulai after praising the NDC government for the numerous development projects initiated in the region, also appealed for the rehabilitation of offices at the Northern Regional House of Chiefs.<\/p>\n

He also requested for a bus from the government to facilitate their transportation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe chiefs and people of the Northern Region appreciate and commend you for the numerous development projects that your government has brought to the region. We suggest that you do not rest on your oars but continue to do many more to win more hearts…We are appealing to you \u00a0to consider and rehabilitate our offices for us. We are also\u00a0appealing to you to donate a mini bus which will alleviate the hardships members and some chiefs sometimes encounter in their travels,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
