{"id":166443,"date":"2015-11-12T14:17:31","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T14:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=166443"},"modified":"2015-11-12T14:46:25","modified_gmt":"2015-11-12T14:46:25","slug":"ghanaian-isis-recruit-greets-facebook-friends-with-joy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/11\/ghanaian-isis-recruit-greets-facebook-friends-with-joy\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaian ISIS recruit greets Facebook friends with &#8216;joy&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 25-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Nazir Nortei Alema, who left home to join the swelling ranks of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, a terrorist organization, has sent a message via Facebook to greet friends and family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nazir captured local and international news headlines in August, when news of his decision to join ISIS broke after his parents told\u00a0Ghana&#8217;s\u00a0national security of his decision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0National Security later confirmed the report and raised an alarm of an agency in Ghana that was targeting and\u00a0recruiting young Muslims from tertiary institutions to join ISIS.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday November 11, a message popped up on Nazir\u2019s Facebook wall. The message read \u201cAs-salaamu &#8216;Alaikum, From The Islamic State, with Joy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nazir-again.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-166451 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nazir-again.jpg\" alt=\"Nazir again\" width=\"440\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nazir-again.jpg 440w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Nazir-again-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Although <strong>Citifmonline.com<\/strong> cannot independently confirm if Nazir posted the comment himself, some family and friends who responded to the post have confirmed he owns the account.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;fj8ZKvdHBaeSpXyIxQtTd1ohOJG3fksl&#8221;]According to them, it is the same account he used in Ghana before his sudden disappearance.<\/p>\n<p>Nazir&#8217;s Facebook post has so far received forty likes and sixty-three comments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With a degree in Geography and Rural Development, Nazir Nortei Alema is one of the several suspected Muslim youth from Ghana believed to have joined the terrorist group, which has gained notoriety for public beheading of their opponents or those they regard as infidels, attracting a worldwide condemnation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nazir\u2019s trip to the training grounds of the so-called Islamic State, started on 2nd August 2015, soon after his completion of the mandatory National Service in Ghana, which he undertook at the Statistical Service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since August 2015, Nazir\u2019s family has not heard from him after he confirmed his ISIS membership\u00a0via whatssap.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Extracts from Nazir\u2019s whatsapp message, received by his brother Kabiru Alema read as follows: \u201cPray for me, for I will never forget you in my prayer and it\u2019s my hope and prayer that we meet again if not in this world then in Jannah (paradise). I love you all. May Allah grant us understanding and guide us all to the straight path. Asalaamu alaikum.\u201d \u201cI told you a lie to please my Allah. The deception was to go do some research work in far away Prestea while the main idea was to move far away from you all to the Islamic State (IS). I know it might sound kind of crazy for you but your son really had to take this bold step to get out of the corrupt system of Ghana which has democracy first on its list,\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Most of the comments from friends and family appealed to Nazir to return home because they were missing him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Comments.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-166449 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Comments.jpg\" alt=\"Comments\" width=\"417\" height=\"558\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Comments.jpg 417w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Comments-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But Nazir did not respond or like any of the comments that followed his post. Some of his supposed relatives who immediately sent him private messages via Facebook upon seeing the post, have confirmed to <strong>Citifmonline.com<\/strong> that he never responded to any of them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the comments that followed his post read \u201cBro where are you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another said: \u201cU know we been looking for u for some time now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHow come u didn&#8217;t tell me this?\u201d \u201cNazir Don Allah where are you? Please call home. You know everyone is sick worried about you. Plead call.\u201d \u201cWasalaam wa rahma, hp u doing great my bro. Kindly call home we miss u a lot\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHmm my one n only bro, wish to see u soon. Come back come back come back to us. We love u\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Others read \u201cooooo NAZ what happened to you. u should know better than them.#ComeBack\u201d \u201cHusbi happy to hear from u\u201d \u201cAlhamdulilah atleast we know you are alive.
