Security analyst, Emmanuel Sowatey has charged newly appointed acting Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor to be politically neutral ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“We are going for general election and I think he should as much as possible try to be politically neutral,” he added.

[contextly_sidebar id=”a1kk5HMp8d9cVcJp3Y9hz8ToC8g531M6″]Commissioner of Police John Kudalor was on Monday named acting IGP following the retirement of Mohammed Alhassan.

The former IGP has been credited with several reforms within the service, particularly, Police visibility in communities.

The security analyst who underscored the need for a continuation of the reforms however charged the new IGP to prioritize the general elections.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Emmanuel Sowatey also urged the President to stop the periodic change of IGPs in the country.

“I don’t know whether he [John Kudalor] will be there till December next year because I’m not too sure that he will be there and that is the problem. For instance run-up to the election, two or three months to the election and a new IGP is brought then it means that within a year we would have had two IGPs. And for me that is what concerns me,” he lamented.
