{"id":165627,"date":"2015-11-09T15:59:15","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T15:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=165627"},"modified":"2015-11-09T17:15:51","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T17:15:51","slug":"mahama-appoints-cop-john-kudalor-as-acting-igp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/11\/mahama-appoints-cop-john-kudalor-as-acting-igp\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama appoints COP John Kudalor as acting IGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has appointed COP John Kudalor as acting Inspector General of Police.<\/p>\n<p>This is to allow the\u00a0current IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, to begin his accumulated leave prior to retirement.<\/p>\n<p>The President, as per the Constitution, appoints the IGP in consultation with the Vice President who chairs the Police Council.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed Alhassan has been occupying the position for two years now.<\/p>\n<p>He took over from former IGP, Paul Tawiah Quaye in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Felix Sarpong, Deputy Director Operations of the Ghana Immigration Service, has also been appointed to act as Director of Immigration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Initiatives introduced during\u00a0Mohammed Alhassan&#8217;s tenure<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Police visibility unit<\/li>\n<li>The establishment of a Police Command and Staff College which is aimed at building the capacity of personnel at Winneba in the Central Region<\/li>\n<li>The transformation of the Armoured Car Squadon or the action troppers of the Police Service to the Formed Police Unit to react swiftly to operations<\/li>\n<li>The reactivation of the Marine Unit which was disbanded<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite these achievements, it was under his tenure that one of the biggest <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/09\/30\/police-ecruitment-scam-timbillahs-docket-forwarded-to-ag\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>recruitment scam<\/strong> <\/a><\/span>hit the service.<\/p>\n<p>As part of investigations, the Director of Operations of the police service, COP Patrick Timbilla was implicated in the scandal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EfeAnsah\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @EfeAnsah<\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s) [0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has appointed COP John Kudalor as acting Inspector General of Police.
