{"id":164538,"date":"2015-11-04T15:59:18","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T15:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=164538"},"modified":"2015-11-04T15:59:18","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T15:59:18","slug":"saanie-daara-gfa-will-look-into-chan-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/11\/saanie-daara-gfa-will-look-into-chan-exit\/","title":{"rendered":"Saanie Daara: GFA will look into CHAN exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has revealed that the GFA will examine Ghana\u2019s inability to qualify for the 2016 CHAN tournament.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The local Black Stars were to avoid defeat in the second leg of the final qualifier against Cote d\u2019Ivoire in Abidjan on October 30, but they lost 1-0 and 2-2 on aggregate (following Ghana\u2019s 2-1 win in the first leg in Kumasi).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Saanie Daara told <strong>Citi Sports<\/strong> that the GFA would meet with the team\u2019s technical body and look into why Ghana could not advance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat we must do is to re-examine the quality of players in the team\u201d. There were a lot of thoughts after we lost. Some believed the right players were not in the team and a reference was made to the league\u2019s best player. These views have come on board. When the technical teams of the FA and the local Black Stars meet, the real reasons behind the inability to qualify will be determined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ghana will miss the tournament for the first time since its inception in 2009 and the failure to make a fourth straight tournament is, according to Saanie Daara, disappointing to the GFA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe expected to get to the tournament for the fourth time but it was not to be. We would like to apologize to Ghanaians for this. It is very hard to take because we wanted to make a huge statement at the tournament. We were not only looking at just participation.
