The suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko has issued a terse statement asking members of the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) to ignore a meeting being organised by the party’s acting Chairman , Freddie Blay.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”NFrl60kXfAf2JdLzdaNf3oBM4WevTaUI”]The statement, which was issued on behalf of Afoko and signed by his Spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei described the purported meeting as ‘illegal.”<\/p>\n

“The attention of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko has been drawn to yet another illegal NEC meeting being called by the First Vice Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay.Mr. Afoko wishes to state that he has not called any meeting neither has the General Secretary, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong issued notice inviting members to attend any meeting,” the statement noted.<\/p>\n

Freddie Blay was appointed as the acting Chairman after Afoko was suspended but the latter is insisting an interim injunction served on the party restrains him[Freddie Blay] from serving as the party’s Chairman.<\/p>\n

“Let all members of the National Executive Committee and\/or National Council take notice that notice of an interim injuction has been served on the party restraining the party and Mr. Freddie Blay from holding any meetings and also holding himself out as the acting national chairman until the substantive motion is heard and disposed of,”it indicated.<\/p>\n

Afoko’s suspension has been met with mixed reactions<\/strong><\/span>.<\/a>\u00a0While some have defended and commended the move, others \u00a0believe the decision was inappropriate and will not augur well for the party.<\/p>\n

He is insisting he is still the party’s Chairman<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>and will continue to serve in that capacity despite his suspension.<\/p>\n
