{"id":162763,"date":"2015-10-27T13:21:05","date_gmt":"2015-10-27T13:21:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=162763"},"modified":"2015-10-27T14:31:12","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T14:31:12","slug":"first-emergency-power-barge-from-turkey-sets-sail-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/first-emergency-power-barge-from-turkey-sets-sail-2\/","title":{"rendered":"First emergency power barge from Turkey sets sail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Citi Business News checks have revealed the first emergency power barge from Turkey has set sail towards Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The power barge constructed by Turkish Power Company, Karpower set sail after a ceremony earlier today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-162737 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-2.jpg\" alt=\"karpower ship (2)\" width=\"474\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-2.jpg 405w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-2-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is expected to add some 225 megawatts of power to the national electricity grid when it arrives on November 12.<\/p>\n<p>The power barges were originally scheduled to dock at the Tema Port in the first quarter of this year but this has since been rescheduled twice.<\/p>\n<p>The emergency power barges form part of government\u2019s immediate interventions to address the country\u2019s struggling power sector.<\/p>\n<p>Minster of Power Kwabena Donkor who was in Turkey to see the power ship set off says he is optimistic the arrival of the ship in Ghana will improve electricity supply.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-162736 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-1.jpg\" alt=\"karpower ship (1)\" width=\"420\" height=\"764\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-1.jpg 396w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/karpower-ship-1-165x300.jpg 165w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ghana is anxiously waiting for the arrival of this vessel into the Ghanaian waters, as we have gone through a temporal period of power challenges but as we speak we are almost at the end of it. Indeed as at yesterday another generating plant had landed at our cost and once we have this power badge and two other projects ongoing we can safely say we will be generating enough power to meet our power needs.
