Northern Regional executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have hailed Paul Afoko\u2019s indefinite suspension as the party\u2019s national Chairman.<\/p>\n
Paul Afoko was suspended by the NPP disciplinary committee following a petition filed by two leading members of the party against him for misconduct.<\/p>\n

The entire NPP Northern Regional executives also\u00a0described the decision as the best.<\/p>\n
The Northern Regional Secretary, Sule Salifu, told Citi News that Paul Afoko\u2019s suspension will sanitize the party for victory in 2016.<\/p>\n
He thus urged all NPP loyalists to respect the party\u2019s disciplinary committee\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cNEC took that decision and any decision that is taken by NEC is binding on everybody. We are equally under NEC and any decision that they take represents the views of the party and that should be the party\u2019s position.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn fact, what has even made it more credible is the support by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, and so on behalf of the Northern Regional secretariat of this party, the secretariat wishes to urge all our party officers all over the constituencies, polling stations and every regional executive to stand firm and respect the order of the National Executive Committee,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Sule Salifu further debunked assertions that Paul Afoko was sacrificed because of his northern origin.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf that is the case, then when Aliu Mahama was not elected as the flagbearer of the party, we should have left the NPP but we are still with the party.\u201d\u00a0Let\u2019s do politics on principles and not on these tribal and religious sentiments. When party leadership take decisions that will inure to the benefit of the party and people issue statements to condemn them, I think that is a worrying development and we must condemn such statements,\u201d Sule Salifu remarked.<\/p>\n
