Lawyer and a council member of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) David Ofosu – Dorte is advocating for the appointment of a Minister of Business.<\/p>\n
According to David Ofosu \u2013 Dorte it will be the responsibility of the Minister of Business to ensure that bottle necks faced by businesses are adequately resolved.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the topic \u2018Business Competitiveness \u2013 Is the Ghanaian private sector its own enemy\u2019 David Ofosu \u2013 Dorte called on the private sector to push for the appointment of the Minister of Business as the appointment will influence the creation and implementation of policies that will make Ghanaian business competitive on the global stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrivate sector is different from business because government does business, as I set the tone ECG is business even though it is owned by the government and if you don\u2019t look at it from that angle and you say that you are looking for a minister for the private sector\u00a0 they look at it from the private sector perspective. Who takes care when government does business and who takes care when SOS collapse and the tax payers money is used to pay them. We need the minister for business, even advance countries have that. It is the duty to ensure that the bottlenecks business face are constantly removed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Am not looking for the public sector to start it but am challenging the private sector to start the advocacy to have the minister of business as other ministers like the trade and industry and that of the public private partnership minister are responsible for specific sectors, as when you are talking of businesses you are looking at both public sector and private sector perspective, Senior partner of AB and David law firm David Ofosu \u2013 Dorte told Citi Business News.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile a former president of AGI Dr. Tony Oteng Gyasi who was the chair for the forum argued that management of businesses must be blamed for the non performance and competitiveness of their companies.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of the attitudinal change we call for amongst businesses and people is really a matter of failure of management. Your employees are not doing the right thing; it is not just because we don\u2019t want to do things in the right manner it is because management is failing. It is the role of management to ensure that employee do things to the best advantage of making a company competitive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Too many of us go to management schools we learn management and we pass exams very well but I must say that it is all theory, we don\u2019t really put it into practice and we should learn to put into use what we learn, Former president of AGI Dr. Tony Oteng Gyasi said.<\/p>\n
