{"id":161911,"date":"2015-10-24T08:16:41","date_gmt":"2015-10-24T08:16:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=161911"},"modified":"2015-10-23T22:20:22","modified_gmt":"2015-10-23T22:20:22","slug":"nadmo-workers-to-picket-at-finance-ministry-over-unpaid-arrears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/nadmo-workers-to-picket-at-finance-ministry-over-unpaid-arrears\/","title":{"rendered":"NADMO workers to picket at Finance Ministry over unpaid arrears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some workers of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) are threatening to picket at the Ministry of Finance in the coming days, if their salary arrears are not paid by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workers numbering about two thousand say the decision has become necessary because it has become unbearable for them to continue to depend on money borrowed from friends and family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;JIQXpldn0zU5FbQn6NX8jk74izlRmmof&#8221;]According to them, they were asked to undertake a biometric registration to facilitate their payment after their employment in 2013 but no payments have been made since.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workers embarked on <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/12\/nadmo-workers-to-be-paid-by-end-of-august-finance-ministry\/\" target=\"_blank\">a similar exercise<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in August to demand the payment of their salaries but an assurance by the Chief Director of the finance ministry led to a suspension.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the affected workers shared their frustration with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have not been paid for over two years and you cannot imagine how living has become for us. We\u2019ve had to be living on borrowing monies from our friends and that is also becoming unbearable. Some of us have even had to leave our spouses,\u201d one of the aggrieved workers stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another intimated, \u201cfrom 2013 till now we have not been paid and all efforts to get the monies paid had fallen on deaf ears.
