The final decision to accept or reject the resignation of the immediate past moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) will be taken next month at a General Assembly Council meeting.

Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso renounced his membership from the church following what he refers to as a “disrespect to his person and ministry.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”83Y40RBBbWU4SOzWniS4iTOEHtVRTaDj”]The leadership of the PCG, had declared their intentions to sever ties with the pro-homosexual Presbyterian Church of the United States of America.

The Public Relations Officer of the PCG, Rev. George Larbi told Citi News though they are pleading with Rev. Manso to rescind his decision, members of the General Assembly Council will take the final decision.

He indicated that “we have sent the response to him saying that it is the General Assembly Council that has the constitutional powers to either accept or refuse to accept a resignation letter from any minister. And General Assembly Council meeting is coming on next month so we will wait.”

“In the meantime we are appealing to him to reconsider his decision and we have communicated to him through his mail,” Rev. Larbi added.

Meanwhile, Very Rev. Dr Yaw Frimpong Manso insisted that he has not received any correspondence from the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to rescind his decision.

He also urged the Presbyterian Church to use the right channels in communicating with him.

“I will say it’s a total lie, if they had taken such a decision I’ve never heard of it. Nobody has spoken to me. Since the time they started writing to me regarding my call back to Ghana, none of the elders, minister or leaders of the church, has called me personally on phone to speak to me on the matter. I want to emphasize clearly that the first thing is for people to be truthful. Nobody has written to me to rescind my decision,” he stressed.
