A visiting Professor at Concordia University in Canada, Prof. Akosua Adomako Ampofo has described Ghana\u2019s capital city, Accra as a schizophrenic town that has no personality.<\/p>\n

\u201cI say Accra is a schizophrenic city. It does not have a personality that you can pin down and say this is Accra. It behaves differently depending on how it feels…\u201d<\/p>\n

Her comments come days after Accra was hit by a heavy rainstorm that left parts of the city flooded.<\/p>\n

Parts of the city were flooded after rains that lasted for about two hours.<\/p>\n

Comparing Accra to other African countries on the Time with the Legends<\/strong> segment of the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, the Professor said: \u201cYou can go to Dakar and it has a certain personality. It has its main road, it\u2019s got its beach front, things may be a little bit rough but you have a feel of Dakar. Nairobi similarly, as well as Cape town and other cities….\u201d<\/p>\n

She believes Accra has turned into an \u201curban jungle\u201d because residents in the area \u201cdo not follow the rules\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have got amazing laws on paper about what you can and cannot do. For instance …the wall around people\u2019s homes is not suppose to be more than 10 feet and people are building walls that are 10 feet tall.Rules are there but they are not followed and so people recognize that if they can get away with anything they will,” she lamented.<\/p>\n
