Ghana\u2019s fastest growing telecommunication network and leader in digital innovation, Airtel Ghana, on 15th October announced the winners for the Airtel App Challenge.<\/p>\n
Out of 82 contesting teams, 3 teams emerged winners. E-Coach, an E-learning application developed by E-coach solution was the ultimate winner. E-Coach is a personal learning companion. This app gives users the ability to take timed tests and get scored electronically.<\/p>\n
The second place was won by Yocaya Inc. with an app called MediaWire; this app allows media houses to interact with their audience easily, users can stream both TV and Radio stations and also send their contributions (messages) via the station\u2019s chat section created on the MediaWire App.<\/p>\n

Individuals with locations suitable for various events can also upload their locations to the app for renting purposes.<\/p>\n
Director of Data at Airtel Ghana, Jean Claude Domilongo stated in a statement released by the Smartphone Network, \u201cWe are excited to announce that E-Coach is the ultimate winner for the Airtel Ghana App Challenge for developing a truly unique and original App that will add value to the Ghanaian society as a whole. \u00a0Not surprisingly, yesterday, the Airtel Africa team announced the final winners for the Africa Challenge and we are thrilled to announce that E-coach, our county winner, was adjudged one of the two overall winners at the continental level.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued \u201cE-coach will receive amongst others, a cash prize, free mentorship in Singapore, free access to upload their App on the Airtel Africa App store and the unique opportunity to participate in the final global event to be held in Jakarta to reward the overall winners across participating countries. E-coach will be leaving for Singapore on Sunday 18, October for a fully paid two day mentoring session to shape and prepare them towards the final global event to be held on 8th December.\u201d<\/p>\n
The overall winner of the App challenge stands a chance of benefitting from an investment of USD 170,000 and a personal cash reward. \u201cAll finalists will also have the opportunity to market with the Singtel Group of operators, and our 560 million-strong customer base when the app is commercially-ready,\u201d Jean Claude said.<\/p>\n
According to him, Airtel believes in the power of potential – that each and every one has in them the ability to realise their full potential which is why each of the 82 \u201cAppsters\u201d who participated in the intensely contested challenge would be assisted by the company to nurture their potentials to the fullest.<\/p>\n

Bharti Airtel, the world\u2019s third largest telecommunications services provider with operations in 20 countries across Africa and Asia, with the support of Singaporean Telecommunications Company, Singtel and smartphone company Samsung launched the application competition for startup developers in order to identify and empower the \u2018next big app developers\u2019 who are passionate about making their change across the world.<\/p>\n
The five-month app challenge which started in July this year required participants to develop consumer-centric mobile applications that will leverage on mobile network services \u2013 mobile, data, carrier billing, location and SMS. The Global winners will be announced on 8th December, 2015.<\/p>\n
