A former member of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Ernest Dumor has expressed disappointment over the failure of the country’s elites to provide leadership.<\/p>\n
According to him, a failing nation depicts either a weak elite system or the absence of such class of people in that society.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Time with the Legends<\/strong><\/em> segment on the Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong>, Prof. Dumor said an effective elite system is one that produces selfless leaders and pace setters for a nation.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”XqTw3m1UUsLgkKFWSn5xyY4S4YSgIwRL”]\u201c…it\u2019s absolutely necessary for every society to have a class of elite people, who will set the pace for things to happen…When I\u2019m talking about elites, I\u2019m not talking about people who are walking around with their heads up looking down on everybody and setting themselves apart.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBasically, you might translate that to the question of leadership, cultivating leaders, the pace setters,” he added.<\/p>\n Situating his explanation of the elite system to during his time at the University of Ghana, Professor Dumor said, \u201cfrom the inception of the University of Ghana, the basic idea was to produce men and women who will take responsibility for running the affairs of this country.\u201d<\/p>\n Click on the link below for the full interview:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
