World Teachers Day, October 5, 2015 was celebrated with excitement by telecom operator, Tigo, as management and staff returned to the various locations of their CSR flagship programme, \u2018Shelter 4 Education\u2019.<\/p>\n
It is the first official visit since handing over the schools in August 2015.<\/p>\n
They interacted with the teachers and pupils in their new environment and volunteered to teach ICT and offer career guidance and counselling.<\/p>\n
The schools include African Faith Basic School in Banda Ahenkro; Tupa MA Basic School in the GA South district of the Greater Accra region; Obeng Yaw Basic School in Adeiso, Eastern region; Dimabi DA Primary School in the Tolon Kumbungu District of the Northern region; Ahiawoanwu Basic School in Ejura and the St. Joseph School for Children with Special needs in Obuasi, Ashanti region.<\/p>\n
The schools received massive infrastructure support from Tigo.<\/p>\n
Under its \u2018Shelter 4 Education\u2019 programme, Dimabi DA Basic School and the St Joseph School for Children with Special needs were renovated and furnished with teaching and learning materials. The other 4 schools which were in makeshift structures each received a brand new fully furnished Six-unit Classroom block with Staff common room, Head teacher\u2019s office and toilet facilities.<\/p>\n
The CEO of Tigo, Roshi Motman, underscored the importance of quality teaching and learning and pledged Tigo\u2019s continued support to creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning.<\/p>\n
