{"id":157705,"date":"2015-10-06T15:52:35","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T15:52:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=157705"},"modified":"2015-10-06T16:47:53","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T16:47:53","slug":"june-3-disaster-suppliers-upset-over-non-payment-of-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/june-3-disaster-suppliers-upset-over-non-payment-of-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"June 3 disaster: Suppliers upset over non-payment of debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some individuals who supplied relief items to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) following the <strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/04\/over-96-bodies-recovered-from-goil-filling-station-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\">June 3 flood and fire disaster<\/a><\/span><\/strong> are yet to be paid for their supplies four months after the disaster struck.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The individuals provided relief items including mattresses, rice, detergents among others to enable NADMO <strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/09\/30\/june-3-disaster-govt-paid-gh%C2%A210000-to-families-of-victims-nadmo\/\" target=\"_blank\">assist families<\/a><\/span><\/strong> who were affected by the disaster with the promise that they will be paid their monies within four weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;dLL14fkHEjfKwbIl5HmWYpJcBXgw9UTn&#8221;]But the suppliers say they have still not heard any positive feedback from the government agency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the affected individuals who spoke to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0revealed that their banks were harassing them due to their inability to repay \u00a0loans they took.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe supplied treated rice and maize but we have not heard anything from them, the bank interest rates are becoming too much for us but still we have not been given any feedback. We were told that the contract will be paid within four weeks but it is four months now and we are yet to hear anything from them,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe banks are on our necks because you know the year is about ending and they are in need of their monies to balance their books,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He added that they expect the government to come to make prompt payment of their monies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c&#8230;That is why we have come to you with our request, we are also appealing to the government to intervene for us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">About <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/10\/accra-floods-fire-disaster-dna-test-for-unidentified-bodies\/\" target=\"_blank\">150 lives were lost<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the twin disaster that occurred at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra after fire gutted the Circle branch of the Goil Filling station amidst the flooding that had wrecked havoc within the same area due to the inability of the Odaw river to flow freely.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By : Pius Amihere Eduku\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some individuals who supplied relief items to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) following the June 3 flood and fire disaster are yet to be paid for their supplies four months after the disaster struck.
