The Chief Justice has set up a four member committee to investigate the seven suspended justices of the high court implicated in the judicial corruption scandal.<\/p>\n
The Judges were suspended by the Vice President<\/a> <\/strong>,<\/span> Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur acting on behalf of the President, after a prima facie case was established against them.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”HJxggYUXIVUohvCIUAAO67p8fO2sARAx”]Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Franklin Badu Junior who was at the court Tuesday, reported that the “Chief Justice has written to three judges at the Supreme Court namely Justice Sophia Akufo, Justice Agnes Dotse and Justice Marfo to probe the matter \u00a0and is yet to retrieve responses from them.”<\/p>\n He further indicated that Justice Sophia Akufo of the Supreme Court is expected to head the committee.<\/p>\n The name of the fourth member is yet to be known. It is also yet unclear when the committee will begin.<\/p>\n The Committee is expected to hold sittings for some days and submit a report to the Chief Justice who will subsequently forward it to the President for the necessary action.<\/p>\n The setting up of a committee for the high court judges follows a similar one established for the 22 lower court magistrates also implicated in the scandal.<\/p>\n The committee for the 22 lower court magistrates had to suspend its sittings<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>after Anas told the court “he would be out of jurisdiction.”<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
