{"id":157358,"date":"2015-10-05T15:12:41","date_gmt":"2015-10-05T15:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=157358"},"modified":"2015-10-05T15:31:11","modified_gmt":"2015-10-05T15:31:11","slug":"chief-goes-into-hiding-after-attempted-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/chief-goes-into-hiding-after-attempted-assault\/","title":{"rendered":"Chief goes into hiding after attempted assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tension is mounting at Agyena, a small community close to Akosombo in the Eastern Region, after a disputed chief was installed on Monday, October 5, 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The development has forced one Nana Twum Barima, who claims to be the rightful Chief of the town, to go into hiding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was after some youth, allegedly hired by another claimant to the stool nearly attacked him on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI visited this town yesterday (Sunday) and I was about to leave this dawn. They came again\u2026They are macho men from Pokuase numbering about 15\u2026they were wielding machetes, guns and firing warning shots. They came to enstool Kweku Asare and they were moving from house to house looking for me,\u201d he told Citi News from his hideout in the town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, a similar incident happened in January this year, but there have not been any arrests even though it was reported to the police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt happened on a Sunday, the 18<sup>th<\/sup> of January, on the 19<sup>th<\/sup>, Monday, myself and the queen mother went to the district police commander, Akosombo to lodge a formal complaint at the police station. Since then on countless occasions we have reminded them that the people are threatening to come back, yet they have not been apprehended\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But the man who was enstooled on Monday, Osabarima Nana Appiah Boadu <em>the third,<\/em> has denied Nana Twum Barima\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said there had not been any chief of Agyena until Monday when he was installed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also denied reports that tension was mounting in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe abusuapayin of Agyena Oyoko clan has installed Agyena Hene, if anyone has an issue with it, he should take it up.
