{"id":157022,"date":"2015-10-05T06:21:43","date_gmt":"2015-10-05T06:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=157022"},"modified":"2015-10-04T19:30:59","modified_gmt":"2015-10-04T19:30:59","slug":"afdb-approves-120m-for-ghanas-aviation-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/afdb-approves-120m-for-ghanas-aviation-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"AfDB approves $120m for Ghana\u2019s aviation industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a $120 million corporate loan to support Ghana Airports Company Limited\u2019s (GACL) capital investment programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The loan, the first private-sector investment in Ghana\u2019s transport sector, is expected to facilitate the construction of a new terminal at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra, and the rehabilitation of other airports managed by GACL including the Kumasi, Tamale, Ho and Wa Airports.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;aGQNeVMa1HuTxFLv0xCcK1tnXRf3bhuq&#8221;]A statement issued by the bank said the total loan facility for the programme is $ 400 million which will be financed with corporate loans from AfDB and other development financial institutions as well as commercial banks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It added that the programme would support Ghana\u2019s ambition of modernizing vital infrastructure as the country seeks to become a gateway to West Africa and a regional aviation hub.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile an estimated 1600 jobs comprising temporary and permanent ones are also expected to be created during the period of the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project aligns with both internal and external policies and strategies.
