Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cThe Fair Wages Salaries Commission, the Trades Union Congress and other unions met today to finalise and conclude negotiations on base pay and salary negotiations for fiscal year 2015. I am happy to announce that across board public sector workers will enjoy 10 percent increase in basic salary on the Single Spine Pay Policy on a relativity of 1.7%,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n
The Minister indicated that the increment will take effect from January, 2016 .<\/p>\n
He said government will ensure that both public and private companies, comply with the new increment.<\/p>\n
\u201cEmployers, private and public must ensure strict compliance to the new directive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Increase in minimum wage\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Minister revealed that government together with its social partner workers have also concluded negotiations on the national daily minimum wage which has increased from 7 cedis to 8 cedis.<\/p>\n
“Government and its social partners have also concluded negotiations on the national daily minimum wage which has increased from 7 cedis to 8 cedis which means one hour so to speak,” he said.<\/p>\n
He described government’s move to increase both the daily minimum wage and salaries of public sector workers as a “historic feat”, adding that “government has been unable to achieve that in many years.”<\/p>\n
According to him, government has also finalised negotiations on category 2 and 3 allowances for public sector workers who are on the Single Spine Pay Policy.<\/p>\n
