{"id":156787,"date":"2015-10-03T06:30:42","date_gmt":"2015-10-03T06:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=156787"},"modified":"2015-10-02T19:22:22","modified_gmt":"2015-10-02T19:22:22","slug":"ecg-directed-to-give-industries-more-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/10\/ecg-directed-to-give-industries-more-power\/","title":{"rendered":"ECG directed to give industries more power \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor has directed the Load Management Committee of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), to increase power supply to the industrial sector of\u00a0the country by 30 megawatts with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister&#8217;s directive, contained in a\u00a0statement issued in Accra on Friday, means that the 100 megawatts being shed currently for industry has been reduced to 70 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Donkor&#8217;s directive is because of an improvement in the electricity generation and distribution in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;011ZDSeYMPBPPjMJo9PBmwtLUkincV1B&#8221;]The statement said the Ministry of Power will continue to monitor developments in the sector and will announce further changes as and when necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It would be recalled that on September 1, 2015, the Minister issued a similar directive to the Load Management Committee to reduce the 130 megawatts load being shed for industry to 100 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr. Donkor in September\u00a0directed the committee to reduce the load being shed currently for the industrial sector from 130 megawatts to 100 megawatts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According him, the 30 megawatts reduction in the load shedding for industry is due to an improvement in the electricity supply situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Emergency power barges arrive\u00a0October<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Alex Mould, \u00a0has told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> the two power barges which are expected to add some 450 megawatts to the national grid will arrive\u00a0this month.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was originally scheduled to dock at the ports in the first quarter of the year but was rescheduled to September, 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an exclusive interview with <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>, Alex Mould confirmed, \u201cthe power barges are in Turkey, they are not supposed to leave until the end of this month.
