Pressure is mounting on President John Dramani Mahama to act swiftly on the report of the Committee that investigated former CHRAJ Boss, Lauretta Vivian Lamptey immediately.<\/p>\n
President Mahama who is in the US for the United Nations summit is expected back home later this week.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”O6vfKAWXNUnOvd7xoJ19AAMsTusana3h”]The Chief Justice on Wednesday forwarded the work<\/a><\/strong><\/span> of the five member Committee to the President in line with Articles 146 (4) of the constitution.<\/p>\n Speaking to Citi News,<\/strong>\u00a0 the Executive Director of anti-graft agency, the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Vitus Azeem said the President must act on the report immediately.<\/p>\n “The various stakeholders have taken the appropriate action, the president refeered to the Chief Justice and the Chief Justice first did the preliminary investigations and then established a prima facie case and set up a committee and the committee has completed its work.<\/p>\n “One will now expect that the findings are made to known to the public and the necessary action taken. If the person is exonerated, let us know the person has been exonerated and the basis for exoneration. If she is also found to have faulted the law, let us also know how she did and what actions are recommended by the committee and of course eventually the appropriate actions are taken by whoever is suppose to take the action…”<\/p>\n Ms Lamptey has been accused of spending about 200,000 dollars<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>on rent at the AU Village and about 180, 000 cedis on the renovation of her official residence.<\/p>\n She was suspended by the President in January 2015,\u00a0following the setting up of a Committee by the Chief Justice to investigate complaints of misconduct filed against her.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
