gets new Vice Chancellor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professor G.A Teye Eyumu has been appointed as the new Vice chancellor of the northern premier University for Development Studies (UDS).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is to relief the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Yakubu whose administration has uplifted the UDS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Professor Haruna Yakubu\u2019s achievements<\/strong><br \/>\nThe University for Development Studies established in 1992 by former President Jerry John Rawlings could only boast of the Nyankpala campus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the leadership of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Yakubu who assumed office in 2010, the UDS established three other multi campuses in WA, Tamale and Navrongo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Tamale City campus hosts the School of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Education and the Institute for Continuing Education and Interdisciplinary Research (ICEIR) among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many academic courses\u00a0introduced in the UDS were unaccredited by 2010.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-156336 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-2.jpg\" alt=\"uds (2)\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-2.jpg 533w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today, the UDS can conveniently boast that all its running programmes are accredited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Infrastructural development<\/strong><br \/>\nLike all other public institutions, numerous completed and ongoing projects have flourished at all the UDS campuses.<br \/>\nProfessor Yakubu\u2019s administration to a large extent met the demand for lecture halls, staff and students accommodation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-156337 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-3.jpg\" alt=\"uds (3)\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-3.jpg 533w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Staff development<\/strong><br \/>\nAs part of attempts to make the UDS visible in the international community, Professor Yakubu\u2019s administration established links with some foreign universities in the United States of America, India, Netherlands and China.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cardinal principle was to sign Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with authorities of the foreign universities for UDS staff and student to access scholarship to study abroad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some identified faculty Deans, Directors, Administrators and students benefitted from the programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The UDS currently has three full Professors, 11 associate Professors and about 60 senior lecturers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-156338 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-4.jpg\" alt=\"uds (4)\" width=\"533\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-4.jpg 533w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/uds-4-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cumulative result of these achievements placed the UDS third on the list of Ghana\u2019s best public universities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professor Yakubu\u2019s exit<br \/>\nThough unhappy about Professor Haruna Yakubu\u2019s exit, some UDS staff and students described Professor Teye Eyumu as a worthy successor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They commended Professor Haruna Yakubu for uplifting the UDS to meet international standards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:
