Three persons have been shot dead in the Akyem-Akooko community of the Eastern Region in a violent clash involving some members of the community and supporters of a fetish priest in the area.<\/p>\n

Reports say nine other people including three Policemen have been injured from the gunshots fired during the clash.<\/p>\n

The clash started when some members of the Akyem-Akooko\u00a0community protested for the fetish priest, Nana Saka to be banished over claims that he had been murdering people in the area for rituals.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators also burnt some houses and vehicles to express their displeasure.<\/p>\n

Four arrested<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile the Police have arrested four persons to assist in investigations.<\/p>\n

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Akuriba Yaagy has however appealed to the residents to remain calm while investigations continue.<\/p>\n

A similar incident occurred in\u00a0Tuobodom in the Brong Ahafo region when some members\u00a0of an angry mob broke into a police station, dragged a fetish priest who had been incarcerated out and lynched him<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The priest had been arrested after residents in the area accused him of killing one of the members of the community.<\/p>\n
