Despite securing a court injunction to stop the pro-NPP group Let My Vote Count Alliance from staging a demonstration, the Police have beefed up security at the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Obra Spot.<\/p>\n

The Police secured an injunction<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Monday to prevent the group from demonstrating and picketing at the EC\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”5uIGiI6dTAW4IJ7CEPELKLCS4FsqQmU5″]Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Farida Shaibu reported that about 50 Police officers were at the premises of the EC on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

She said the Police have also taken over \u201cthe streets from Cathedral right to the EC.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the Cathedral, they were about ten with their Police vans. When I got to the Electoral Commission, they were more than 50 with barricades. Some of them who spoke off record said they were there to stop the demonstration by the Let my vote count alliance group.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Shaibu, the Police said \u201cthey are on the alert so as to disperse the Let My Vote Count group\u201d should they head towards the place.<\/p>\n

At the Obra Spot there Farida said \u201cthe number was huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey [Police] said they\u2019ve been there since 4:30am and they are there in case anything happens,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
