{"id":155402,"date":"2015-09-28T15:27:46","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T15:27:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=155402"},"modified":"2015-09-28T15:32:14","modified_gmt":"2015-09-28T15:32:14","slug":"stay-my-case-justice-dery-writes-to-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/09\/stay-my-case-justice-dery-writes-to-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Stay my case; Justice Dery writes to court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the High Court judges cited in the judicial bribery scandal wants the court to put his case on hold pending the determination of his other suit at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;jjEbfgQySSecZLaDZmLnlHbpu4xnNeQj&#8221;]This, according to the high court judge is because \u201cthe issues he has asked the Supreme Court to determine are matters that speak to the heart of the issues\u201d before the high court.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Justice Paul Uuter Dery is one of 12 High Court judges captured on video allegedly receiving bribes from undercover journalists posing as family and friends of suspects and litigants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conduct of the judges has become the subject of an inquiry by the Judicial Council with impeachment lurking around the corner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a writ filed at the Fast Track division of the High Court, Justice Dery is<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/09\/22\/injunction-against-anas-video-paul-dery-goes-for-substituted-service\/\" target=\"_blank\"> seeking a total of 17 reliefs,<\/a><\/strong><\/span> topmost being \u201cA declaration that the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Defendant (Tiger Eye PI) obtained the contents of the audio-visual\u00a0recording unlawfully.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Attorney General and the Chief Justice were also sued as defendants in the suit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But in a letter dated September 23, 2015, lawyers of Justice Paul Dery from Addo and Addo Chambers stated that if the high court does not stay the case before it, the matter before the Supreme Court will be rendered useless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Raymond Acquah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the High Court judges cited in the judicial bribery scandal wants the court to put his case on hold pending the determination of his other suit at the Supreme Court.
