{"id":155216,"date":"2015-09-28T08:40:01","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T08:40:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=155216"},"modified":"2015-09-28T08:40:01","modified_gmt":"2015-09-28T08:40:01","slug":"ppi-declines-further-to-4-4-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/09\/ppi-declines-further-to-4-4-percent\/","title":{"rendered":"PPI declines further to 4.4 percent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Producer Price Inflation (PPI) decreased to 4.4 percent in August from the 10.6 percent recorded in July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;VXg5MEY4U4xYqp0ZynWTcZb0EhVpJt2v&#8221;]The Producer Price Index measures the average change overtime in prices received by domestic producers for the production of their goods and services.<\/p>\n<p>The month-on-month change in producer price between July and August 2015 was minus 3.4 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The utilities sub sectors recorded the highest inflation year \u2013 on \u2013 year producer price inflation rate of 8.4 percent in August followed by the manufacturing subsector which recorded 4.1 percent while the mining and quarry sub sector recorded an inflation rate of 1.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Citi Business News Government Statistician at the Ghana Statistical Service Dr. Philomena Nyarko attributed the sharp decline to the drop in the prices of petroleum products in July 2015 predicting that September could see further decline due to the appreciation of the cedi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know there were significant reductions in the prices of petroleum products in July 2015 about 24 percent.
