Police in the Upper East Regional capital Bolgatanga have commenced investigations into clashes in the town which left over seven people injured of gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

Several houses were burnt down<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the clashes which happened on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The fight is believed to be connected to a long standing chieftaincy dispute in the area.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”i9CeUVeykgCQUgMgrqnUUb3meXzMdDpI”]Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, the Upper East Police Commander, DCOP Simon Yao Afeku stated that they will bring anyone found culpable to book to prevent future occurrences.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have cautioned everybody that we will not renege on that responsibility, we shall carry it out to the latter, the occurrence took place in the dark and it was very difficult under those circumstances. As investigations unfold as to where we should arrest, we would assure them we will go in to arrest appropriately,” he stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Upper East Regional correspondent, Frederick \u00a0Awuni reported that the families of the affected areas are living in fear.<\/p>\n

They have also called\u00a0for interventions to enable them acquire their lost properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t stay in this place and when we came this morning I saw that everything was just condemned, I have lost a lot of things and I don\u2019t know how I will come by them,\u201d a widow \u00a0who was affected narrated.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the time the fire service showed up, everything of mine has been condemned, for now I do not have any place to go,\u201d another man stated.<\/p>\n
