Hundreds of participants thronged the College of Physicians & Surgeons on Saturday to participate in the Accra edition of \u2018The Catalyst for Change 2014\u2019 seminar.<\/p>\n
The event was organized by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Allure Africa, Dzigbordi K. Dosoo.<\/p>\n
The program, held annually, is aimed at equipping attendees with essential tips to enhance their intellectual and physical growth, and to enable them excel in the corporate world.<\/p>\n
The first two speakers who addressed Saturday\u2019s seminar were Reverend Gilbert Ossei of Yachal House, and Patience Akyianu, Managing Director of Barclays Ghana. They spoke to issues relating to acquiring the requisite skills to start and sustain a business.<\/p>\n
Mr. Teete Owusu-Nortey, CEO of Logistics Movers and Yetron Outdoor, was also one of the speakers. He shared key lessons from his tough entrepreneurial journey to the top.<\/p>\n
As an unconventional businessman, he built his first business whilst working as a consultant on an engineering project.<\/p>\n
Prior to the contract, he had failed several major exams growing up. He stated that the \u2018Nov\/Dec\u2019 exams and final exams at the Accra Polytechnic were some the tests that he flunked whilst in school.<\/p>\n
He said he was however unperturbed by his failures, adding that he sailed through the odds with a strong-willed spirit.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy failure rather encouraged me to move on in life,\u201d Mr. Nortey said.<\/p>\n
He went on to state that the era of using education as a measure of one\u2019s ability to succeed in life had to be eliminated.<\/p>\n
\u201cSchool gives you knowledge but not profession,\u201d he said. \u201cDon\u2019t box yourself up. It is your passion that will make you stand out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. Nortey ended his speech by stating that smart business people did not require only monetary capital but other resources such as mental power and human resources.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t need money to set up a business. All you need is your brain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dzigbordi K. Dosoo, who also addressed the seminar, gave an insightful presentation on key pillars to maintaining good personal hygiene and grooming, developing one\u2019s competence and overall charisma.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat you need is competence. Stop complaining and upgrade yourself,\u201d she retorted.<\/p>\n
She encouraged participants to give off their best in all their personal and business endeavors.<\/p>\n
\u201cLife is not about what you don\u2019t have; it\u2019s about getting the best out of what you have,\u201d the Allure Africa boss said.<\/p>\n
