There is growing tension in the camp of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Karaga constituency over alleged attempts to disqualify one of the Parliamentary aspirants called Mohammed Kamil.<\/p>\n
Mohammed Kamil is competing with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Sualihu Alhassan Dandawa who is seeking re-election.<\/p>\n
A group calling itself Coalition of Youth Groups of the NDC in the Karaga constituency is unhappy with the party executives\u2019 alleged ploy to disqualify Mohammed Kamil.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”7W5QN5egoyC4wMaIrNPwv6umG1iCFLwK”]The group\u2019s Spokesperson, Alhassan Fuseini in a Citi News<\/strong> interview accused the constituency executives led by the Chairman of openly campaigning for the incumbent Member of Parliament, Sualihu Alhassan Dandawa.<\/p>\n \u201cThe constituency executives have openly declared their support to the sitting MP contrary to the party regulations and against the general wish of the Karaga constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n He warned that the group will resist any attempt to disqualify Mohammed Kamil and called for fairness and transparency during the vetting process.<\/p>\n According to Alhassan Fuseini, the constituency executives in a similar clandestine machination foiled Mohammed Kamil\u2019s Parliamentary ambition in 2012.<\/p>\n He lambasted the constituency Chairman for allegedly terrorizing Mohammed Kamil\u2019s supporters and sympathizers.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of the branch executives were compelled and threatened to bear false witness to the effect that they did not endorse the nomination forms of any contestant apart from the sitting Member of Parliament.\u201d<\/p>\n He thus impressed upon the party\u2019s regional executives to call the constituency Chairman and his surrogates to order.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are appealing to authorities of the National Democratic Congress to call the constituency executives of Karaga to order so as to allow the primary process to follow due process in order to allow party members elect a generally preferred Parliamentary candidate from the two contestants.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis way all party members would be committed to the victory of the party in the 2016 elections and beyond rather than wait to commit greater time and resources trying to unite party members as happened in the run-up to the 2012 elections,\u201d he insisted.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" There is growing tension in the camp of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Karaga constituency over alleged attempts to disqualify one of the Parliamentary aspirants called Mohammed Kamil.
