{"id":152716,"date":"2015-09-18T08:26:07","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T08:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=152716"},"modified":"2016-06-08T16:32:05","modified_gmt":"2016-06-08T16:32:05","slug":"waec-withholds-over-6000-bece-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/09\/waec-withholds-over-6000-bece-results\/","title":{"rendered":"WAEC withholds over 6,000 BECE results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said it has withheld results of 6,812 students who allegedly indulged in various malpractices in the 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination pending investigations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to WAEC, \u201cthe withheld results will be released as soon as the Council concludes its investigations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;100YuUMh7F1Bh9ESqUMcvejsYr8Nbcej&#8221;]Widespread leakage of some of the BECE papers compelled WAEC to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/17\/four-bece-papers-cancelled\/\" target=\"_blank\">cancel five of the papers<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The subjects were English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Science 2, and Mathematics 2 and Social Studies 2.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new date was subsequently set for the <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/30\/resit-of-cancelled-bece-papers-ends-today\/\" target=\"_blank\">re-sit of the cancelled papers<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>BECE results released\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile WAEC has released the provisional results of the June 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The council stated that it is in the process of dispatching the results to the schools through the Municipal District Directors of Education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a press release issued by WAEC, a total of 437,942 candidates registered for the examination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This figure represents a 3.55% increase in that of 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Out of the number 229,651 are males and 208,291 are \u00a0females.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A total of 1,886 candidates were absent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
