Organizers of Let My Vote Count demonstration are expected to embark on another demonstration to press home demands for a new voters register on September 22, 2015.<\/p>\n

This, according to the group, is to enable them present their petition to the Electoral Commission (EC).<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”R4aTnltwHKZfBbLwQ9g1aSPoJ8yZq83L”]The group\u2019s earlier demonstration held on Wednesday, turned violent when the police fired tear gas on protesters after the latter allegedly veered off the approved route.<\/p>\n

The Convenor of the group. David Asante stated\u00a0that though their plans were interrupted by the Police\u2019s \u201cbrutal activities\u201d, the group is still rallying and coming together to have “another demonstration”.<\/p>\n

“The substance of our activities is the petition we have to present which we could not present. What this means is that we are not done yet.Our position still remains constant, nothing has changed. We are pressing home the demand for a new voters register,” he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is asking the Police to punish<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and bring to book its personnel that caused mayhem at the demonstration.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the party\u2019s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong called on the hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service to expressly look into the matter \u201cwith all the seriousness that it deserves and ensure that those officers who perpetrated this act are brought to book, in order to avert such occurrence in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
