The Chief Executive of Vodafone, Haris Broumidis, says the corporate workplace is about to experience a transformation in the areas of efficiency and productivity following the launch of Vodafone\u2019s Machine-2-Machine (M2M) technology.<\/p>\n
M2M is considered the new frontier of telecommunications. It is a phenomenon that simply means machines and devices could be connected to each other and communicate; providing a transformational tool on how people run their businesses and lives.<\/p>\n
Currently Vodafone is leading the way with this technology across the globe and has also commenced usage of the platform in the country. Vodafone’s capabilities in M2M in Ghana cover some of the most crucial areas of the economy including health, transport, logistics, banking, utilities and security.<\/p>\n
These industries are using Vodafone’s SIM cards to smartly connect devices to enhance their efficiency and productivity output. The focus is to deliver practical innovation to customers in Ghana and West Africa.<\/p>\n
M2M, which fuses into the general concept of the \u201cInternet of Things\u201d, has been hailed as the answer to operational efficiency and workplace convenience.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the technology on the sidelines of the official launch in Accra, Haris Broumidis said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis platform is a complement to the human effort. It will ensure that humans and machines would co-exist on the same network to produce efficiency and great returns. Vodafone\u2019s reputation in this area is unmatched and we are excited to be finally deploying it in Ghana. The world of work as we know it will never be the same again and organizations that fail to adopt such technologies would eventually be left behind in the competitive game\u201d.<\/p>\n

The platform, already operational in Ghana, will be supported by an expert team with country-wide responsibility for growing Vodafone\u2019s M2M business. The team, which includes engineers, product and sales managers, is to ensure that customer needs are met in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n

Globally, Vodafone is ranked the best in M2M with about 21.5 million SIMs currently connecting assets in various industries in the world.<\/p>\n
