Mrs Dzifa Attivor, Minister of Transport, says all is set for the introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services to complement the work of the State Transport Company and the Metro Mass Transit Limited.<\/p>\n
She said government has procured 10 buses for the BRT which is currently being used to train drivers adding that \u201cwe hope for a full take off November\u201d.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”QqfAwYJHJLQhHwxKQ1MEVxKChDIQgXkl”]Mrs Attivor said this during the 2015 transport Sector Review Conference in Takoradi.<\/p>\n
The conference was on the theme: \u201cEffective Public Private Partnerships towards a Sustainable Development of the Transport Sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mrs Attivor said great successes have been achieved by the government in terms of road safety records as acknowledged by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.<\/p>\n
She said besides the achievements in the road sector, various interventions are being made to enhance rail, water and air transport.<\/p>\n
Mrs Attivor said government has provided funds for the sub-urban rail lines, expansion of the Takoradi port, high speed passenger ferries and construction of cargo ferries.<\/p>\n
The Minister alluded to the establishment of a new national air carrier, construction and redevelopment of the Ho aerodrome as well as the Wa aerodrome.<\/p>\n
Mrs Attivor said government would continue to partner the private sector in financing and the delivery of transport infrastructure and services for economic, social and environmental advancement.<\/p>\n
Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado, said the transport sector is a great avenue for selling the country\u2019s culture and also serves as a medium for uniting people.<\/p>\n
Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, said the development of the transport sector is imperative \u201cif we seek to harness the natural resources of the country for our growth and development\u201d.<\/p>\n
