The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has presented a cheque of GHc 10, 000 to the National Kidney Foundation to be used by the Renal Dialysis Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.<\/p>\n
Presenting the cheque, Ms Annie Anipa, Assistant Commissioner in charge of Public Affairs, said the support to the unit was part of the organisation\u2019s social corporate responsibility.<\/p>\n
According to her, the unit has provided tremendous support to staff of the GRA since the well-being of workers is a priority to management.<\/p>\n
She said the amount being presented was contributions from staff and donations from other sources to support the unit to deliver quality health care services to patient.<\/p>\n
Dr. Charlotte Osafo, Head of the Unit, was full of praise for the GRA for the support.<\/p>\n
She expressed the hope that with support from public-spirited organisations, the unit would become a place of excellence to enhance quality health care.<\/p>\n
Dr. Osafo appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to come to the aid of the unit to save lives.<\/p>\n
Reverend Albert Okpoti Botchway, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu, said currently the unit has about 180 patients on dialysis.<\/p>\n
He urged the public to take good care of themselves since treatment of dialysis was expensive.<\/p>\n
He said the hospital now has a unit that perform transplant of organs, adding that very soon the hospital would partner organisations to provide facilities to ensure quality health care.<\/p>\n
