The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) is advocating for a review of the district assembly election concept, to raise and sustain\u00a0the interest of Ghanaians in polls at that level.<\/p>\n
The call comes on the back of the low voter turn-out reported in the just-ended district level elections on Tuesday, September 1.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”dt3cBl6P2TUu9qpCk7iWrgmr3vKASOFG”]Speaking on Eyewitness News<\/strong>, the National Coordinator of CODEO, Albert Arhin, argued that there is an urgent need to assess the current system to improve it.<\/p>\n “We have been having this election for a very long time and each and every time, the participation is not encouraging, then there are two things; either the dedication is not enough or people even do not understand what we mean by the district assembly concept,” he said.<\/p>\n “People do not understand the issues at stake, of the fact that there are people down there,” who are to see to the development of their various localities.
