{"id":147652,"date":"2015-08-31T12:00:51","date_gmt":"2015-08-31T12:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=147652"},"modified":"2015-08-31T11:37:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-31T11:37:29","slug":"cape-coast-tops-child-prostitution-in-ghana-unicef-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/cape-coast-tops-child-prostitution-in-ghana-unicef-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Cape Coast tops child prostitution in Ghana- UNICEF Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A recent United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF ) report has revealed that Cape Coast, in the Central Region, is leading in child prostitution cases in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is according to the Central Regional Minister, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;rgTdGHyw7PFqPpH3S05t8O6eDYRGZjp1&#8243;]According to him, UNICEF has the problem captured in it&#8217;s report and was planning to collaborate with the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) to mitigate the situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through the UNICEF\/PPAG collaboration, child prostitutes in the metropolis would be mobilised and given some vocational training to help them generate income, since poverty could be the top-most factor for engaging in such activity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The result of the survey also comes three months after the Regional Minister had stated that child prostitution was on the rise in the metropolis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Quansah was speaking as the guest of honour at the official opening of the 15th Biennial Delegates\u2019 conference of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Association of Methodist Church Choirs Ghana (GHAMECC) at Elmina over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also appealed to the Methodist Church to think of ways to help keep the children out of prostitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The four-day conference is on the theme \u201cWitnessing to Christ, Holistic Spirituality and Service for Current and Succeeding Generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GNA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF ) report has revealed that Cape Coast, in the Central Region, is leading in child prostitution cases in Ghana.
