The Member of Parliament for Keta, Richard Quarshigah has asked members of the Volta regional group agitating against the development fees to be paid by new Parliamentary aspirants, to resort to internal party structures for hearing.

The group, Concerned NDC Members, have petitioned the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia over what they referred to as “calculated attempts by the Volta regional executives of the NDC to thwart the effort of young people to participate in the democratic process.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”FVvWXtIA1EM57nIioIDyWNpuSRhoxrpc”]The approved filing fees, new entrants as well as sitting MPs contesting in the primaries are expected to pay 10,000 and 5,000 Ghana cedis respectively as development levy.

Responding to the concerns raised by the group on Eyewitness News, Richard Quarshigah advised the group to avoid discussing their issues in the media, explaining it contradicts the party’s constitution.

“What I know is that party matters are not supposed to be discussed in the media because that obviously offends article 14 of our constitution, I think that if there are grievances there are procedures to follow and it will not be seen as very right and appropriate for us to be discussing these matters our issues on radio,” I’ll just humbly crave the indulgence of all and sundry that let’s keep our party intact,” he said.

Meanwhile Richard Quashigah who stated that he had picked up nomination forms, expressed optimism he will retain his seat for the NDC after the party’s November 7 primaries.

“I am poised for an exciting internal battle but I am very confident that my performance has been pleasing to the people who sent me to parliament and I have no doubt in my mind that my mandate will be renewed,” he stated.
